Find answers to common questions about Digital Multimeters
The price of a digital multimeter price in Bangladesh depends on the brand, features, and model. Digital multimeters are usually available in the market starting from 5000 taka to more than 80,0000 taka.
Low-cost or general-purpose multimeters, such as those used by electricians or industrial workers, are usually priced between 5000 and 10,000 taka. They can easily measure voltage, current, and resistance.
Medium-quality multimeters, which have features such as continuity test, diode test, capacitance measurement, etc., are usually priced between 5,000 and 20,000 taka. On the other hand, professional or industrial multimeters come with features such as auto-range, true RMS, data hold, temperature measurement, etc. Their prices can usually range from 5,000 to 50,000+ taka. Digital multimeters can be easily purchased from electronics markets, online shops, or e-commerce websites in Bangladesh. Before buying, it is best to check the model, features, and warranty.
A digital multimeter is an electronic measuring device that is used to measure various types of electrical values such as Voltage, Current, Resistance, etc. It is mainly a very important tool for electricians, electronics technicians, engineers and hobbyists. Using a multimeter, it is easy to understand whether electricity is flowing properly in a circuit or whether a component is damaged.
The tasks that are usually done with a digital multimeter are:
Measuring AC and DC Voltage
Measuring Electric Current
Testing Resistance
Continuity Testing
Diode Testing
Checking Battery Voltage
Many advanced multimeters can be used for other tasks such as temperature measurement, capacitance measurement, frequency measurement, etc. Although analog multimeters were used more in the past, Digital Multimeters are more popular today because they are more accurate, easy to use and the readings can be clearly seen on the display.
Several brands of digital multimeters are very popular in Bangladesh. Some of these brands are well known among electricians and engineers for their accuracy, durability and performance.
Some of the popular brands are:
Sanwa
Fluke
Victor
UNI-T
Mastech
DT Series Multimeter
Among them, Sanwa and Fluke are generally used more for professional level and their prices are relatively high. Victor, UNI-T and Mastech brand multimeters offer good performance within a medium budget. They are very popular for electrician and electronics repair work. On the other hand, models like DT830, DT9205 etc. are low-cost and are used for basic work. Which brand of multimeter to buy will depend on your type of work, accuracy requirement and budget.
Some important things should be kept in mind while buying a good digital multimeter. Because choosing the right device makes the work easier and the accuracy of the measurement is good. First, measurement accuracy is very important. If you are using it for professional work, then you should choose a high accuracy multimeter. Second, you need to see the measurement range. You need to make sure that AC/DC voltage, current, resistance, etc. can be measured in different ranges with a good multimeter. Third, you need to see if there is an Auto-range or Manual range feature. It is much easier to use if there is an Auto-range. Fourth, build quality and safety protection are important. If there is overload protection or fuse protection, the device is safe. Fifth, if there are extra features such as data hold, backlight display, temperature measurement, etc., it is more convenient to use. Finally, it is better to buy by looking at the brand and warranty so that it can be used for a long time.
A cheap digital multimeter can be used for basic tasks in many cases, but it may not be safe or reliable in all cases. Low-cost multimeters are usually made for hobby or small electrician work. They can be used to measure battery voltage, small circuit test or basic electronics. But in the case of industrial work or high voltage measurement, using a cheap multimeter can be risky. Because many low-cost multimeters do not have proper safety protection, fuse protection or insulation. In addition, cheap multimeters often cannot give accurate measurements. As a result, there is a possibility of getting incorrect readings in important work. So if you want to use it for professional electrician, engineer or industrial work, then you should use a good quality and trusted brand multimeter. But for basic learning or hobby projects only, a low-price digital multimeter may be enough.
There are various sources for buying a digital multimeter in Bangladesh. You can buy it from two places - offline electronics market or online shop. Different brands of multimeters are easily available in electronics markets in Dhaka, Chittagong or other big cities. You can buy by directly seeing and testing the products in these stores. On the other hand, many people nowadays prefer online shopping. Multimeters can be easily ordered from various e-commerce websites or electronics equipment websites. The advantage of buying online is that you can easily compare the prices of different models and make a decision by reading customer reviews. However, no matter where you buy from, you must be sure that the product is original, with warranty and is being purchased from a trusted seller.
Measuring voltage with a digital multimeter is very easy. However, it is important to follow the correct procedure. First, turn on the multimeter and set the dial or selector knob to Voltage mode (V). Then, if you want to measure AC voltage, select ACV and if you want to measure DC voltage, select DCV. Then, you have to use two probes. The black probe is connected to the COM port, The red probe is connected to the VΩ port, Then, you have to touch the two probes to the circuit or battery where you want to measure the voltage, The voltage value will then be displayed on the display. If it is an auto-range multimeter, it will adjust the range automatically. And if it is a manual range, you have to select the correct range. While measuring voltage, you have to be careful not to connect the probe incorrectly and maintain safety while working on high voltage circuits.
Yes, you can easily test the voltage of a mobile battery or other battery using a digital multimeter. First, set the multimeter to DC Voltage mode. Because batteries usually provide DC voltage. Then touch the black probe to the negative terminal of the battery and the red probe to the positive terminal.
Then the current voltage of the battery can be seen on the display. For example:
A 1.5V battery usually shows 1.4 – 1.6V
A 3.7V lithium battery can usually show 3.5 – 4.2V
If the battery voltage is very low, it means that the battery is weak or has run out of charge. In this way, the condition of a mobile battery, remote battery or other battery can be easily checked.
Both digital multimeters and analog multimeters are used to measure electrical values, but they differ in their working method and display method. Analog multimeters have a needle or pointer that moves on a scale to show the measurement. On the other hand, digital multimeters display the reading directly as numbers on an LCD or LED display. Digital multimeters are generally more accurate and easier to use. They also have modern features such as auto-range, data hold, backlight, etc. Analog multimeters are relatively less accurate, but in some cases they help to understand signal variations. Nowadays, most technicians and engineers use Digital Multimeters because they provide fast and clear measurements.
For those who are just starting out in electronics or electrical work, there is no need to buy a very expensive multimeter. For beginners, a multimeter that has basic measurement features is good, such as:
Voltage measurement
Current measurement
Resistance measurement
Continuity test
Diode test
DT830, DT9205 or similar basic digital multimeters are quite popular for beginners. They are easy to use and inexpensive. New users can easily do circuit tests, battery checks or basic electronics projects with these multimeters. However, if you want to work professionally in the future, you should gradually use a good quality multimeter.
